I'd visited Straw Bear a number of times to meet up with old friends and
last year Tim of Pig Dyke convinced me I should join them and so dance
at Straw Bear in 2008. After months of practice the day arrived and what
a day it was, clear blue skies after days of rain. Its so different
taking part rather than just watching, the crowds are so appreciative of
all the different styles of dancing and the best thing is they
don't know when you go wrong (as I did)
Taking part means you don't get to see as many of the other dance sides
as you would like to but the excitement and atmosphere of dancing more
than makes up for this and makes all the practice worthwhile. Just
wished I'd joined years ago.
